Unlike many competitive sports, yacht racing is not easy to watch as a spectator. Sailtracker enables friends, family and fans of yacht racing to watch an event live from any web browser. After the regatta, racers can use the Sailtracker “Playback” feature to re-watch the event and compare their performance to that of their competition.
And unlike competing services, Sailtracker aims to be low-cost and accessible to all by using a free smartphone app rather than a proprietary hardware transponder. As long as the event is held relatively near the shore where at least intermittent mobile phone signal is available Sailtracker can track the race. Once you own the tracking app, you can track your yacht indefinitely.
